Start With a Free Evaluation
Estimates are free, and we will also evaluate your current system at your home or business at no charge. We run every zone, check the coverage of each head and look for the usual trouble signs: brown patches where spray never reaches, soggy spots that point to a leak, and water hitting the driveway, sidewalk or siding instead of the lawn. Low pressure gets diagnosed rather than guessed at, since the cause can be a partly closed valve, a crushed pipe or simply too many heads on one zone. We service all brands and systems, so you do not need to know who installed yours.
Moving Heads and Adding Zones When the Yard Changes
One of our most common calls comes after a project elsewhere on the property. A new room, deck or garden often lands right on top of existing heads or leaves a strip of lawn with no coverage at all. We relocate heads, add new ones and add zones so the system matches the yard you have now. Separate zones matter because planting beds, shady lawn and full-sun turf all need different amounts of water. If puddling or runoff is part of the problem, we can also handle grading and lawn drainage so the water you pay for soaks in where it should.

Spring Start-Up and Fall Winterization
On Long Island, plan to winterize before the first hard freeze, usually in late October or November. Water left in the lines can freeze, crack pipes and split fittings, and the damage often stays hidden until the system is turned on in spring. Winterization clears that water out. In spring, an inspection and tune-up catches heads that were damaged by plows or mowers, resets the timer for the season and confirms every zone is working. An automatic rain shut-off is worth adding while we are there, since it stops the system from watering during or right after a storm.
Tracking Down Wires, Valves and Leaks
Some failures are hard to see. A zone that will not turn on may have a wire that was cut during digging, a solenoid valve that has stuck or failed, or a timer damaged by a lightning surge. We detect and repair cut wires, locate buried valves and repair or replace them, and fix or replace the clock. Leaks show up as a spike in the water bill, a spot that never dries or a head that bubbles instead of spraying. Finding the exact source keeps the repair small instead of tearing up half the lawn.

Lawns Around Suffolk County
Keeping grass green in Suffolk County means dealing with sandy soil that drains fast, salt air near the Sound and summer stretches with little rain. The same conditions face the open lawns at Deepwells Farm in St. James, the picnic grounds at Raynor Beach on Lake Ronkonkoma and the grass around the library in Nesconset. A well-zoned sprinkler system with good head coverage and a rain shut-off keeps a home or business lawn healthy without watering the sidewalk.
A few nearby places that show what steady watering and good coverage do for grass in our part of the county.
- Deepwells Farm County ParkThe wide lawns around the old farmhouse in St. James are a good picture of the even, healthy turf a properly zoned system aims for.
- Raynor Beach County ParkSandy ground near the lake dries out quickly in July, the same challenge Ronkonkoma homeowners face when their heads are spaced too far apart.
- Smithtown Library, Nesconset BuildingPublic grounds like these in Nesconset show how much tidier a property looks when spray stays on the grass and off the walkways.
- Caleb Smith State Park PreserveThe preserve along the Nissequogue River is a reminder that water is a shared resource, and a rain shut-off on a Smithtown system helps conserve it.
- West Meadow BeachStony Brook yards close to the Sound get salt air and wind, which makes regular head checks and coverage tune-ups more important.

Sprinkler Installation & Repair FAQs
When should I winterize my sprinkler system on Long Island?
Schedule it before the first hard freeze, which usually means late October or into November. Waiting too long risks water freezing inside the pipes, fittings and valves. Booking early also gets you on the calendar before the fall rush. If an early cold snap is forecast, shut off the water supply to the system until the lines can be cleared.
Is the evaluation of my existing system really free?
Yes. We offer a free sprinkler evaluation on your current system at your home or business, and estimates for repairs or new installations are free as well. During the visit we run the zones, check head coverage and point out any leaks, pressure problems or broken parts so you know exactly what needs attention before any work is done.
We are adding a deck. What happens to the sprinkler heads under it?
Heads that end up under a deck, patio or new room need to be relocated or capped, and the surrounding lawn often needs new heads to fill the gap. If the project adds a garden bed, a separate zone usually makes sense. It helps to call before construction starts so the lines can be moved while the ground is already open.
Why is one zone spraying weakly while the others look fine?
Low pressure on a single zone usually points to something specific to that zone, such as a leak in its line, a valve that is not opening fully, a clogged head or more heads than the supply can handle. We diagnose the cause and repair it, whether that means fixing a pipe, replacing a valve or rebalancing heads across zones.
Can you work on a system someone else installed?
Yes. We service all brands and systems, whether the original installer is still around or not. That includes repairing or replacing heads, timers and solenoid valves, finding leaks and cut wires, and adding heads or zones. If an older system is no longer worth repairing, we can talk through a new installation designed for how your property looks today.
